croatian catholic centre

The Croatian Catholic Centre was established in four stages with the efforts of the Croatian Catholic community who raised funds to purchase land on Springvale Road, Braeside in 1977 and volunteered their time during the three building stages. S2 design [John Saunders] was responsible for site master-planning and building design of all three stages which include the community hall, church proper and school.

First Building Stage: Design and construction of the priest’s rectory was completed during the mid 1970’s first to provide on-site accommodation during establishment of the campus.

Second Building Stage: Building of the large hall commenced in 1978 under the supervision of Father Marko Perkovic and it was opened and blessed on 15th November 1980 by the Archbishop of Zagreb, Dr. Franjo Kuharić.

Third Building Stage: The building of the Holy Spirit Croatian Catholic Church was supervised by Father Anton Vujičić and it was opened and blessed on 5th November 1983 by the Bishop of Đakovo Čiril Kos.

Fourth Building Stage: The Croatian Ethnic School ‘Bartol Kasis’ and the small hall was built under the supervision of Father Mate Krianac and Domina Vladić. The foundation of the school was blessed on 24th April 1988 by Archbishop of Melbourne, Francis Little.
